Treway Beef Skirt Makes A winning pasty!!

On Saturday it was St Piran’s Day which saw the very first Pasty Competition at the Truro Farmer’s Market. Entries were open to market traders and the public with two categories; ‘Traditional Cornish’ and ‘Rest of the World’.

Now I may be a half decent home cook but…. anything baking and pastry related is certainly not my forte! So the Treway Farm entry was made by Sue who is the lovely lady who helps me to make all our burgers, beef bombs, meatballs etc every week. She is a fabulous baker and arrived at the farm on Friday afternoon with a super pasty fresh out of the oven and smelling delicious.

On Saturday morning I carefully took it with me to the market for judging. The pasties were judged by Scott Young from Mannings Hotel, Steve Fodder from Fodders Cafe and Chaz Buscombe from the The Cornish Mill and Bakehouse.

In the afternoon the results were announced as follows;

Traditional Cornish

1st Jon and Karen Arnold

2nd Heather Bell

3rd Treway Farm

Champion Pasty

Jon and Karen Arnold

What makes this so special and makes us super proud is that each and every one of these winning pasties were made using our Treway Farm Beef Skirt!! Jon, Karen and Heather had all purchased their skirt from me at the market the week before in readiness for making their pasties.

It just shows that you really can taste the Treway Farm difference!
