Cornwall farm business award winners 2021
Last week we attended the Cornwall Farm Business Awards which was held at the Royal Cornwall Showground, Wadebridge. It was such a treat to really dress up!
We were finalists in the ‘Best Farm Processor’ category, this is for farms who are producing a food product from their farm which they are then marketing and selling themselves. Last year’s winner was James Kittow who then came as one of the judges to see us.
The awards were judged all the way back in February 2020 but due to Covid the awards dinner was much delayed but well worth the wait!
On judging day we showed the judges around the farm (although seeing as it was February there weren’t any turkeys to be seen! Then we gave them a presentation about how our turkey business had started and what are plans were for the future.
As such a young business we thought it would be a good experience for us to enter but really didn’t think we would be finalists let alone winners.
On the night the other two finalists were Trink Dairy and Trevilley Farm Shop, both brilliant farming enterprises with huge amounts of experience. So when we were announced as winners we were beyond surprised.
I was also a finalist in the Women In Farming category with Gemma Smale-Rowland from Cornish Moo and was won by Rona Amiss, Tregullas Farm.
We can only thank all of our wonderful customers and supporters who have made all of this possible and supported us in our farming journey so far.
